In addition to satellite services, the agreement grants access to PlanetScope and SkySat data, as well as AI-powered solutions to strengthen situational and maritime domain awareness. The contract builds on Planet’s previously announced satellite services agreement and expands the availability of high-resolution imagery and timely intelligence.
Planet’s dedicated capacity model provides governments with an efficient and cost-effective alternative to developing and operating their own satellite infrastructure. This enables sovereign access to advanced space-based capabilities amid rising geopolitical tensions.
“We are incredibly proud to expand our vital collaboration with Germany as they rapidly enhance and bolster regional peace and stability,” said Will Marshall, CEO and Co-Founder of Planet. “With the changing geopolitical landscape, the demand for sovereign access to geospatial intelligence is more urgent than ever before, and Planet’s satellite services model is uniquely designed to enable large area security monitoring.”
The agreement reflects Planet’s long-standing presence in Germany and highlights the company’s commitment to serving European interests through advanced satellite solutions. “Our talented European team plays a crucial role, contributing significantly to the global management of Planet’s constellation and driving our extensive business across the EMEA region,” said Martin Polak, Managing Director of Planet Labs Germany GmbH.
“This agreement powerfully underscores the unique value we deliver to Germany’s long-term security interests,” Polak added. “We are proud to deliver the space-based information and tools that Europe urgently needs at this critical time.”
Following Planet’s recent agreement with NATO, this contract further reinforces its position as a key partner for governments seeking enhanced monitoring and early warning capabilities. The initiative aligns with growing global demand for responsive space technologies in a complex security environment.
The satellites involved in the contract are already under development, with revenue recognition expected to begin in January 2026 and increase in subsequent years. Planet confirmed that this announcement does not affect its previously issued financial guidance for the current fiscal year, as provided on 4 June 2025.
