MilDef secures contract for Swedish Navy’s NATO-integrated command-and-control system

By Defence Industry Europe

MilDef, the Swedish tactical IT company, has signed a contract with the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) to deliver a command-and-control system for the Swedish Navy. The system, designed to enhance NATO interoperability and connectivity, will be based on MilDef’s OneCIS software, supported by the company’s hardware and integration services.

The contract is initially valued at SEK 81 million, with deliveries scheduled for 2025. The agreement includes options that, if exercised, could increase the total contract value to SEK 127 million. MilDef’s OneCIS software is already operational in other Nordic nations, highlighting its proven effectiveness in enabling secure and efficient communication across NATO-aligned units.

“As the Swedish defence becomes an integral part of NATO, MilDef is proud to contribute with a system that simplifies and streamlines communication between cooperating nations,” said Daniel Ljunggren, President and CEO of MilDef. “Our unique software OneCIS connects both systems and nations for increased collaboration and capability. For MilDef, FMV’s confidence points to our ability to deliver a comprehensive solution with the full breadth of our portfolio, ie software, hardware and integration services.”

MilDef has been a trusted supplier to FMV since 1997, consistently delivering advanced tactical IT solutions. The latest order includes the installation of systems on multiple Navy ships and command posts, ensuring interoperability and secure communication within NATO’s cooperative framework.

The OneCIS software is designed for rapid deployment of tactical IT services in scenarios such as mobile command centres, tactical units, and rapid response forces. By incorporating this system into the Swedish Navy, MilDef aims to strengthen Sweden’s military readiness and its role within NATO operations.
