The new Nammo Perry Production Facility is part of a larger USD 4.8 billion U.S. Army initiative to strengthen munitions manufacturing capabilities and secure supply chains for defence. This investment has already nearly tripled the monthly output of 155mm artillery rounds, with production rising to 40,000 shots per month from 14,000 in 2022.
The facility, equipped with advanced semi-automated load, assembly, and pack technology, draws upon expertise from Nammo’s operations in Norway to ensure efficient, high-capacity production. Col. Leon Rogers, project manager for Combat Ammunition Systems, emphasised the importance of the M119A2 charges produced in Perry, which will provide critical firepower to support U.S. Army missions and international defence partnerships.
Congressman Neal Dunn, representing Florida’s second district, highlighted the strategic importance of the facility, describing it as a valuable addition to both local industry and national security. “Nammo’s commitment to the M119A2 project reflects the best of what this community offers—dedication, skill, and a drive to support our nation’s defence,” Dunn remarked.
The Perry facility is now the fourth U.S.-based location dedicated to producing 155mm artillery components, underscoring a focused expansion of U.S. munitions capabilities amid growing defence needs.
