Nordic defence company Nammo has signed a significant new agreement with the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) to supply small-calibre ammunition. The contract, valued at 1.8 billion SEK, is the largest of its kind awarded to Nammo by Sweden.

The agreement is part of a recently established 10-year framework between Nammo and FMV. Deliveries are scheduled to take place between 2026 and 2028.

This long-term commitment is expected to enhance the predictability of Nammo’s future investments. It also reinforces Sweden’s security of ammunition supply, particularly in light of global capacity challenges.

The production required under the contract will constitute a significant portion of the activities at Nammo’s Karlsborg factory. Speaking on the agreement, Reijo Bragberg, Executive Vice President of Nammo’s Small and Medium Calibre Ammunition business unit, said: “This is a significant order and a key agreement that ensures greater predictability for Nammo and, even more importantly, security of supply for Sweden.”

The importance of this agreement was highlighted during a visit to the Karlsborg factory by Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson. The Prime Minister emphasised the critical role of the defence industry in maintaining democracy, particularly in the context of current global challenges.

This agreement represents a strategic step forward for both Nammo and Sweden, ensuring reliable ammunition supplies at a time when global production capacity remains limited.
