The NFH variant, designed for compact maritime operations, is a testament to the collaborative efforts of its Partner Companies: Airbus, Fokker, and Leonardo. It is engineered to perform optimally in a range of maritime operational domains and scenarios, including anti-submarine (ASW) and anti-surface (ASuW) warfare, from both shore bases and warships under all conditions.
The versatility of the NH90 NFH extends beyond warfare. Its cabin size and modular equipment make it highly capable in search and rescue operations, maritime surveillance, airborne early warning, and logistic support, among other roles. This adaptability makes the NH90 a critical asset in modern naval operations, capable of handling a wide spectrum of tasks from vertical replenishment to special operations, including counter-terrorism and anti-piracy efforts.
The Qatari fleet, which includes 17 helicopters of both the NFH and TTH (terrestrial) variants, has amassed over 2,500 flight hours since December 2021, boasting an impressive average serviceability rate above 80%. This achievement is partly due to a strategic cooperation with Leonardo, which supports training and maintenance operations in Qatar, ensuring the fleet’s operational readiness and efficiency.
