Nordic countries sign strategic ammunition partnership agreement with Nammo

By Defence Industry Europe

Sweden, Denmark, Finland, and Norway have signed a Strategic Partnership Agreement (SPA) with Nammo AS to secure the delivery, production, and servicing of ammunition during peacetime, crisis, and conflict. The agreement comes in response to the evolving security environment in Europe, highlighting the need for reliable and robust ammunition supply chains.

The SPA aims to bolster ammunition stockpiles for the Armed Forces across the Nordic region and strengthen the defence industrial base in all participating countries. It is also intended to ensure security of supply and support continued cooperation under the NORDEFCO framework.

“We are very pleased that this agreement establishes a framework with Nammo as a strong and committed partner in ammunition production,” the signing parties stated. “Nammo’s extensive experience and expertise will ensure the delivery of quality products to our forces.”

The initial focus of the partnership will be on the production of 155mm artillery and small arms calibres. In the longer term, it will expand to include defence-related research and development, new product initiatives, and the joint use of ammunition among the Nordic countries.

This collaboration reinforces unity and preparedness across the region, while also ensuring continued military support for Ukraine in its ongoing conflict with Russia. The agreement marks a significant step in strengthening Nordic defence capabilities through trusted industrial partnerships.
