The NATO Support and Procurement Agency has awarded Diehl Defence a contract for the procurement of Vulcano 155mm guided ammunition. The contract was announced at the NATO Summit Defence Industry Forum in Ankara.

NSPA said the contract will support NATO Allies and partners in strengthening their long-range strike capabilities. First deliveries are expected in 2027.

The contract is being managed through the NATO Support and Procurement Organisation’s Ammunition Support Partnership. NSPA said the agreement reinforces NATO’s precision strike capabilities as part of wider efforts to modernise and replenish critical Land Battle Decisive Munition stockpiles.

The agency said the procurement also supports NATO deterrence. The Ammunition Support Partnership, established in 1993, provides a multinational framework through which 27 participating nations aggregate demand and procure ammunition through framework contracts with industry.

The partnership covers a broad portfolio of ammunition types across land, air and maritime domains. NSPA said multinational cooperation allows Allies to deliver strike capabilities faster, at greater scale and with improved interoperability.

The agency said the approach supports ammunition readiness, sustainment and defence industrial resilience. The contract reflects NATO’s continuing focus on replenishing ammunition stocks and strengthening precision strike options.

“This landmark contract underscores our unwavering commitment to modernising ammunition stockpiles and strengthening collective defence through multinational cooperation. By ensuring a secure supply chain, Allies can deliver critical precision strike capabilities faster and at greater scale,” said Stacy Cummings, NSPA General Manager.
