On December 6, the OCCAR-EA Director signed the FREMM contract amendment number 24, on behalf of Italy and France as Participating States, with Orizzonte Sistemi Navali & Naval Group industries.

The contract amendment introduces technical modifications to Italian and French FREMM equipment to meet Nations’ needs and requirements.

As it stands, 16 FREMM Frigates have been delivered so far, eight for Italy and eight for France. The remaining two frigates will be delivered to Italy in the coming years.

Representatives from the Participating States outlined the outstanding achievements of the FREMM Programme, and they were grateful for the high level of support and guidance provided by OCCAR as well as the close cooperation between the two Nations.

The close cooperation among OCCAR, DGA, SEGREDIFESA, NAVARM and the relevant Navies General Staffs played a key role in the achievement of major milestones within a relatively short period of time.

This programme further strengthened the long-lasting relationship and cooperation between Italy and France, and such relationship will continue to grow stronger in the future.
