“The 3040 MX brings Allison’s proven durability, reliability, performance and innovation to the medium tracked vehicle segment, and to Poland’s indigenously designed and produced Borsuk IFV,” said Dana Pittard, Vice President, Defense Programs, Allison Transmission. He added, “Allison values its partnership with Poland, and we’re extremely honored to play a key role in supporting their defense initiatives.”
Based on the long-established X300 propulsion system, the 3040 MX offers several performance upgrades including high-speed reverse, integrated steering, and improved acceleration and fuel efficiency. It also features enhanced reliability and advanced electronic controls with integrated diagnostics for improved operational capability.
Huta Stalowa Wola (HSW), a subsidiary of PGZ, is part of the consortium set to produce over 1,400 Borsuk vehicles over the next 10 to 15 years. Designed to replace the ageing BWP-1, the Borsuk is an amphibious tracked vehicle operated by a three-person crew, with development and testing ongoing since 2017 leading to the 2023 agreement between the Polish Ministry of National Defence and HSW.
