– We are consistently strengthening the Polish army. We are changing our armament from post-Soviet to modern weapons of the North Atlantic Alliance standard. GROT carbines are such a modern weapon. This has been proven by producers and soldiers of the Polish army and Ukrainian forces, in whose hands they are effective. Therefore, in 2023, I approved the second order of GRORT carbines made by Fabryka Broni “Łucznik” in Radom, a total of nearly 200 000 pieces for PLN 2.1 billion. This is important for the Polish army, but also for the producer, by offering perspectives of development and new jobs in the Radom region – said Mariusz Błaszczak, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defence.
On February 24, 2023, on behalf of Fabryka Broni “Łucznik” – Radom sp. z o.o., the agreement and an annex to the agreement of July 2020 were signed by: Dr. Wojciech Arndt, President of the Management Board of Fabryka Broni „Łucznik” – Radom, Seweryn Figurski, Member of the Management Board of Fabryka Broni „Łucznik” and Brigadier General Artur Kuptel, Head of the Armament Agency.
According to the provisions of the contract, the Polish Armed Forces will receive 250 GROT 762N sniper rifles chambered in 7.62 mm x 51 NATO ammunition. They are to be delivered by July 31, 2024. The GROT 762N semi-automatic sniper rifle was created as a successor to the SWD sniper rifle introduced to the army in the 1960s.
– The order for the 7.62 mm caliber GROT 762N sniper rifle for the Polish army confirms our belief that the designers and technologists of Fabryka Broni, together with the scientific team of the Military University of Technology, as well as the production employees, were up to the task. This is another construction made in Radom, which goes to the Polish Armed Forces. This proves a very high quality of our products. We want the Polish army to be equipped with modern solutions, which is very important in the context of the current geopolitical situation – says Dr. Wojciech Arndt, President of the Management Board of Fabryka Broni “Łucznik” – Radom.
The Polish army will also receive an additional batch of MSBS GROT C16 FB-A2 carbines, cal. 5.56×45, thanks to another annex to the currently implemented contract from July 8, 2020. According to its provisions, another 88 000 GROT carbines, worth approx. PLN 1 bilion, will be delivered to the Polish Army by the end of 2026. As a result, the entire order will cover a total of nearly 184 000 carbines, worth approx. PLN 2.1 billion.
– It has been mentioned many times that the MSBS GROT carbine passed the most difficult of all tests, which is to be used in an actual combat. We are proud of it and it is undoubtedly encouraging that the Polish army recognizes the advantages of this construction, hence another order for GROTs for our army – says Seweryn Figurski, Member of the Management Board of Fabryka Broni “Łucznik” – Radom.
The 7.62 mm cal. GROT 762N semi-automatic sniper rifle is a modern, original, Polish design, chambered in 7.62×51 mm NATO (.308 Win.) rifle ammunition, developed in two versions with 406 mm (16 “) and 508 mm (20”) barrels. It is the result of cooperation between Fabryka Broni “Łucznik” – Radom and the Military University of Technology. The rifle is based on the general construction scheme of the basic GROT C16 FB – A2 5.56 mm carbine and includes all its best features, like safety and operational reliability as well as high modularity, ergonomics and technical aesthetics. The arrangement of the fire-safety switch, bolt catch, magazine catch and cocking handle, is similar to the GROT C16 FB – A2 carbine, which is an additional advantage of the weapon, speeding up the process of training. The possibility of replacing the barrel assembly at the level of the user himself, reconfiguring the weapon for right- and left-handed shooters (reversible system of shell ejection to the right and left side) and the interchangeability of modules (stocks, handguards, etc.) have also been preserved.
The MSBS GROT carbine was developed as part of the ZISW TYTAN military project, and the weapon was presented for the first time on the eve of the Polish Army Day in 2012. This unique design allows for quick change of key modules, such as the barrel module with an integrated gas chamber, trigger mechanism, grenade launcher and stock. Thanks to this, you can quickly customize the weapon for a specific recipient and needs. All these features can be achieved both in the classic and bullpup system. Fabryka Broni fully met the requirement of the User to modernize the individual soldier’s equipment by adapting and implementing the offered weapons units into serial production to the latest standards. The first copies of MSBS “GROT” entered the equipment of the Polish Armed Forces in 2017.
