On October 26 PIT-RADWAR and Wojskowe Zakłady Elektroniczne, companies belonging to the Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ), signed contracts with the Norwegian concern Kongsberg Defense & Arerospace for the construction and delivery of two Naval Missile Units armed with Naval Strike Missile Coastal Defence Systems, with servicing and production of NSM missiles.

The contract for two Naval Missile Units for the Polish Navy, signed by PIT-RADWAR S.A., is a consequence of contract concluded on September 5, 2023 between the Armament Agency and Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace for the supply of coastal missile systems with NSM (Naval Strike Missile) missiles. Currently, the Navy has two NDR systems. One was purchased in 2008 and delivered in 2012, the other was ordered in 2014 and handed over to the army in 2017. PIT-RADWAR cooperated with Kongsberg in the implementation of both contracts.

The second agreement, concluded by Wojskowe Zakłady Elektroniczne S.A., stipulates the transfer of knowledge and technology regarding the servicing and production of NSM missiles. The company already has experience in this subject, as contracts for previously acquired Coastal Missile Squadrons were also accompanied by technology transfer to the Polish industry, including: maintaining elements of the NDR system and the NSM missiles themselves, which is what the WZE plant in Zielonka does.

– When we’re talking about the Naval Missile Unit, we not only have the Jelcz company in mind, but, mainly, our partners from Norway, who proved that they are our close business partner, and cooperation in the construction of this unique unit showed that we understand each other really well. What is particularly important, as PGZ, we have the opportunity to cooperate with partners who are leaders in their substantive areas. This definitely applies to the Kongsberg company, which is why our companies, such as PIT-Radwar or WZE, benefit from this cooperation – said the President of the Management Board of PGZ S.A. Sebastian Chwałek.

The contract signed by PIT-RADWAR provides for the construction and delivery of vehicles to four Coastal Missile Squadrons. Each of them consists of a set of vehicles, which includes: Mobile Communication Center (MCC) – 3 pcs., Squadron Command Vehicle (SCV) – 1 pc., Battery Command Vehicle (BCV) – 2 pcs., Command Control Vehicle The total contract value is over PLN 1.1 billion. The delivery is scheduled to be completed in 2029.

Polish Naval Missile Units are an important element of the entire NATO defence system. Thanks to their mobility, they can be used to strengthen the defence of any European country. Naval Missile Units elements were used during every allied exercise, including the ones in Estonia and Romania.
