Patriot is described as the only combat-proven ground-based air and missile defence system capable of countering long-range cruise missiles, tactical ballistic missiles and a full range of air-breathing threats. Supported by its command-and-control system, Patriot has intercepted hundreds of advanced aerial threats globally and currently forms the backbone of air defence for 19 countries, with this award marking Romania’s second Patriot order within a year.
