Rheinmetall, a global leader in armoured tracked and wheeled vehicles, is renowned for designing the KEILER NG Armored Breaching Vehicle and contributing significantly to the technology of the Leopard 2A4 tank. In Spain, Rheinmetall’s subsidiary REM S.A.U. plays a key role in the design, manufacture, and support of armoured vehicles, bolstering the company’s established presence in the region.
Indra, a major player in defence systems in Spain, is responsible for designing the thermal cameras and manufacturing the Leopard 2E combat system locally under a license from Rheinmetall Electronics. The company also supplies the Lince BMS, currently operational in the Leopard 2 tanks in Spain, and has developed the MAESTRE Mission System, which is contracted for the Spanish Army VCR 8×8. As the primary design authority for the Spanish BMS, Indra’s expertise in Leopard 2 electronics and simulation solutions is well-recognised.
To support the growing demand for armoured vehicle capabilities, Indra is investing heavily in integration, production, and transformation facilities within Spain. This strategic initiative aligns with the company’s commitment to enhancing national defence capabilities.
