Rheinmetall lands major 155mm ammunition order in low three-digit million-euro range, with production underway and delivery due in 2027

Rheinmetall has received an order for a low five-figure quantity of 155 mm artillery projectiles from an undisclosed international customer. The contract is valued in the low three-digit millions of euros.

The German defence group recognised the order in the third quarter of 2026. Production has started, and Rheinmetall expects to complete delivery in 2027.

The projectiles are already in service with several NATO countries. They are compatible with a wide range of 155 mm artillery systems and offer long range and high effectiveness.

Rheinmetall is expanding existing facilities and establishing new production sites. The investment is intended to meet rising demand for 155 mm projectiles and propellant charges.

The Düsseldorf-based company has increased its ammunition capacity since 2022. It plans to produce about 1.5 million 155 mm artillery shells annually by 2030.

Air and missile defence

L3Harris Technologies is proposing to adapt its nationwide air traffic surveillance network to support U.S. homeland defense against drones, low-flying aircraft and cruise missiles.
