Rheinmetall secures major Bundeswehr contract for military redeployment support

By Defence Industry Europe

Rheinmetall has been awarded a significant contract by the Bundeswehr to provide logistical support for the redeployment of military forces within Germany and their deployment abroad. The framework agreement with the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Infrastructure, Environmental Protection and Services (BAIUDBw) is valued at up to EUR 260 million gross.

Initially valid for three years, the agreement includes options for two one-year extensions, allowing it to remain in effect until the end of 2029. The contract ensures Rheinmetall’s logistical services will be available in national defence situations and in alignment with NATO’s mutual defence clause.

Germany’s strategic location in Europe makes it a key transit and logistical hub for NATO and EU defence operations. As a result, the country plays a crucial role in the redeployment of military forces across the region.

Under this contract, Rheinmetall Project Solutions GmbH will be the first industrial partner responsible for establishing and operating Convoy Support Centres (CSCs) and assembly areas along military convoy routes. These initiatives form part of the Bundeswehr’s ‘Operationsplan Deutschland’ and strengthen Germany’s defence infrastructure.

Dr Deniz Akitürk, CEO of Rheinmetall Project Solutions GmbH, expressed satisfaction with the expansion of the company’s business in military logistics. The contract represents a significant step in Rheinmetall’s growing role in supporting armed forces through comprehensive logistical solutions.

Beyond supporting the Bundeswehr, Rheinmetall’s services will also benefit allied armed forces, including those from NATO, the UN, the EU, and Partnership for Peace nations. The company’s provisions include accommodation, catering, refuelling, waste disposal, security services, and other essential facilities to sustain military operations.
