Rheinmetall has signed a new multi-year framework contract with the Dutch armed forces for the production of hand grenades. The agreement covers the delivery of around 15 different grenade types from Rheinmetall production sites in Germany and across Europe and has a value in the double-digit million-euro range.

The contract was concluded for an initial five-year term, with an option to extend it by a further two years, allowing the Dutch Army to procure hand grenades flexibly in line with operational needs. Production will take place at Rheinmetall facilities in Trittau and Silberhütte in Germany and in Schwanenstadt, Austria, in accordance with the latest safety and quality standards.

“This contract highlights the confidence which our Dutch partners have in Rheinmetall’s capabilities and reliability as a leading European systems provider in the field of ammunition”, said Robbin Reijm, Sales Director for the Benelux countries at Rheinmetall. “At the same time, it will strengthen our industrial base at several European sites”.

The agreement forms part of a broader series of framework contracts between Rheinmetall and the Netherlands, underlining their long-standing cooperation in security and defence industrial policy. Rheinmetall’s extensive production network and technological expertise position the company as a key partner for European armed forces in securing the long-term supply of ammunition.
