Rheinmetall to supply rescue stations to Bundeswehr in major contract

By Defence Industry Europe

German defence company Rheinmetall has secured a significant contract to provide up to 120 rescue stations for the Bundeswehr. The agreement, commissioned by the Federal Office for Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw), is set to be formalised in January 2025 and valued in the high double-digit million-euro range.

Initial deliveries will include ten ballistic-protected systems and six unprotected units, scheduled for completion between 2025 and 2027. The contract also features an option for an additional 104 systems, both armoured and unarmoured, alongside comprehensive training for Bundeswehr personnel.

Designed for rapid deployment, these highly mobile rescue stations will support the Bundeswehr medical service in providing emergency surgical and internal care. The modular design enables quick assembly and dismantling, making them ideal for diverse operational environments.

Each station is equipped with essential features such as air conditioning, a power generator, and a state-of-the-art emergency surgery container. These units form part of the Bundeswehr’s Modular Medical Facilities (MSE) system, ensuring advanced healthcare support for Germany’s armed forces in challenging conditions.
