The proposed partnership would combine Rolls-Royce’s advanced propulsion expertise with Reliance’s technology, manufacturing and industrial capabilities. It is intended to support India’s goal of developing an indigenous engine for its fighter aircraft programme.
The companies will also explore establishing a dedicated Aerospace Gas Turbine Complex in India. The facility would serve as a centre of excellence for power and propulsion technology.
“India’s strategic autonomy requires sovereign capability in critical technologies. Our intent with Rolls-Royce is to combine their world-leading expertise in advanced propulsion with Reliance’s technology, manufacturing, scale and execution capabilities to build an indigenous aero-engine ecosystem in India,” said Anant Ambani, Executive Director, Reliance Industries Limited.
“Together, we aim to build an enduring national capability that can make India self-reliant and, over time, globally competitive in advanced propulsion technologies. This is our contribution to the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of an Atmanirbhar Viksit Bharat,” Ambani said.
The proposed Aerospace Gas Turbine Complex would cover design, development, manufacturing, testing, production and through-life support. Rolls-Royce and Reliance said the approach is intended to establish sovereign, end-to-end Indian capability across the engine lifecycle.

The initiative supports India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat policy and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s objective of developing an indigenous engine for the country’s fighter programme. The companies also plan to explore wider cooperation in defence, civil aerospace and new power and propulsion systems.
Rolls-Royce and Reliance said the alliance is intended to strengthen India’s domestic advanced propulsion capability over the long term. Their stated objective is to build greater technological self-reliance while developing an industrial base capable of competing internationally.
