The system was developed and is manufactured by Almaz-Antey Air and Space Defence Corporation. It is designed to strike fixed targets using specified coordinates.
Rosoboronexport markets the Garpia-A1E with a range of up to 1,000 kilometres and a warhead weighing more than 50 kilograms. The company claims a circular error probable of no more than 4 metres.
The system includes the BLA-D attack drone, which uses a flying-wing design and a pusher propeller powered by a petrol engine. The aircraft weighs 250 kilograms at take-off, with a fuselage length of 3.4 metres and a wingspan of 3 metres.
The drone can fly automatically for at least six hours at altitudes between 50 and 2,500 metres. Its stated maximum speed is at least 170 kilometres per hour.
“Rosoboronexport is open to negotiations regarding the supply of the Garpia-A1E system and the localization of its production in countries friendly to Russia,” said Alexander Mikheev, Director General of Rosoboronexport.
Rosoboronexport said the system had generated foreign interest after what it described as successful tactical use. It said the Garpia-A1E had already been presented to several prospective partners.
Almaz-Antey has established serial production of the system, according to Rosoboronexport. The exporter said foreign contracts can be fulfilled within competitive timeframes without affecting the manufacturer’s obligations to the Russian Ministry of Defence.
