The missile can also be adapted for other Russian-made aircraft after appropriate modifications. Rosoboronexport said it could additionally be integrated into the armament systems of foreign-made aircraft.
The RVV-SDM is designed to engage aircraft, helicopters, cruise missiles and uncrewed aerial vehicles around the clock. It is intended to operate in environments where electronic countermeasures are present.
The missile uses an active/passive radar seeker, an inertial control system and a radio update link. It can engage targets at altitudes between 15 metres and 25 kilometres, including targets travelling at speeds of up to Mach 3.
“Rosoboronexport notes a growing interest of the global market in the Su-57E fifth-generation fighter,” said Rosoboronexport Director General Alexander Mikheev. “The aircraft has proved its superiority in actual combat conditions.”
Rosoboronexport said the Su-57E had engaged air, ground and surface targets using Russian air-launched weapons, including the RVV-SDM. The company claims the missile provides a longer launch range, an increased power-to-weight ratio, higher effectiveness and improved aerodynamic performance.
“Furthermore, it incorporates a passive radar homing channel, providing complete stealth, high guidance accuracy, fire-and-forget effectiveness, and resistance to jamming,” Mikheev said. Rosoboronexport did not provide a maximum launch range for the RVV-SDM in its statement.
The missile is being marketed as part of a broader air-to-air weapons package for the Su-57E. Rosoboronexport is also offering the RVV-MD2 short-range missile and RVV-BD long-range missile for the aircraft.
The Su-57E export weapons package also includes Kh-38MLE air-to-surface missiles and Kh-69 air-launched cruise missiles. Other listed weapons include Kh-58UShKE anti-radar missiles, Kh-35UE anti-ship missiles, KAB-250LG-E guided bombs and UPAB-1500B-E guided glide bombs.
Rosoboronexport said the weapons can be carried in the Su-57E’s internal bays or on external hardpoints. Internal carriage is intended to reduce the fighter’s radar signature.
“Rosoboronexport is ready to negotiate contracts with countries friendly to Russia for the supply of both the Su-57E fighter and the air-launched weapons designed for it,” Mikheev said. “In its export activities, the Company prioritizes the needs of the Russian Armed Forces for weapons and military equipment.”
Rosoboronexport said Russia’s defence industry has sufficient production capacity to support export deliveries while prioritising domestic military requirements. The company said it could offer production and delivery schedules comparable with, and in some cases shorter than, those of international competitors.
