Swedish defence company Saab has signed new cooperation agreements with Poland’s defence industry partners Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ) and WB Group. The agreements are intended to deepen collaboration between the Swedish and Polish defence sectors and expand joint development of advanced military capabilities.

According to Saab, the new arrangements represent an important step in strengthening cooperation between the two countries’ defence industries. They also aim to support innovation and the development of technologies relevant to European and Baltic regional security.

Micael Johansson, President and Chief Executive Officer of Saab, emphasised the significance of the new agreements. “Signing these new agreements with both PGZ Group and WB Group marks important new milestones in strengthening collaboration between the Polish and Swedish defence industries.”

He highlighted the broader objective of expanding technological cooperation between the partners. “By sharing expertise and scaling up innovation together, we can ensure the development of advanced solutions and capabilities that will contribute to security and stability in Europe and the Baltic Sea region,” Johansson said.

The agreement with Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa focuses on cooperation related to submarine sustainment. It outlines the intention to collaborate on establishing in-country maintenance, repair and overhaul capabilities in Poland as part of the country’s Orka submarine programme.

Saab’s second agreement was signed with the Polish defence technology company WB Group. This arrangement includes plans for collaboration on autonomous naval systems and unmanned aerial systems.

The cooperation with WB Group specifically references projects related to the Gladius and Future Task Force programmes. These initiatives are intended to support the development of advanced autonomous and unmanned operational capabilities.

Saab noted that the agreements build on earlier cooperation with both companies. In September 2025, the company had already signed initial collaboration agreements with PGZ and WB Group.

The agreements signed now represent a further progression of those partnerships. Saab said the new arrangements deepen the existing cooperation and create additional opportunities for joint technological development between Sweden and Poland.
