Under the terms of the contract, Saab will supply its RBS15 Mk3 anti-ship missile integrated into a truck-mounted launcher module. This upgrade will replace the currently used RBS15 Mk2 and enhance Sweden’s defensive systems. The coastal anti-ship missile capability, initially reinstated in 2016, will now benefit from the improved technology and performance offered by the RBS15 Mk3.
“Sweden will receive a significant capability increase with an anti-ship missile featuring a more advanced target seeker, increased range and a larger warhead,” stated Görgen Johansson, head of Saab’s business area Dynamics. “RBS15 is specifically developed for the complex environment and harsh weather conditions of the Baltic Sea.”
The RBS15 Mk3 boasts a range exceeding 200 km and is designed to target naval assets with precision. Its flexibility allows for deployment from both ships and trucks, making it a versatile addition to Sweden’s coastal defence infrastructure. Developed and manufactured by Saab in collaboration with German partner Diehl Defence, the system is purpose-built to endure and perform in challenging conditions.
