The Coast Control Radar is a next-generation, phased-array, non-rotating, software-defined radar developed in the UAE. It is designed to improve the monitoring of territorial waters, ensuring the safety of maritime traffic and national sovereignty.
With a compact and modular design, the radar provides high-performance tracking capabilities, including the detection of small and fast-moving vessels in challenging coastal environments. It is intended to support national security efforts while also contributing to the protection of global maritime trade routes.
The system is built for flexible installation, allowing integration into existing infrastructure such as buildings, towers, and waterway bridges. Its modular design facilitates 360-degree coverage and enables regular software updates to maintain optimal performance.
Heléne Bittmann, Saab’s Managing Director in the UAE, highlighted the importance of secure maritime transit in the region. She emphasised that the Coast Control Radar offers an effective solution for nations looking to improve their monitoring of key waterways.
Key features of the radar include advanced military-grade antenna technology, a phased-array design with a compact footprint, and enhanced detection capabilities even in harsh conditions. The system is also designed for cost-efficient operation, requiring minimal maintenance while ensuring high availability.
