Safran unveiled its JIM SHARPHAWK binoculars at DSEI 2025, presenting the direct successor to the widely deployed JIM Compact system. The new model continued the legacy of compactness, robustness, reliability and scalability while introducing performance improvements and new operational features.

Equipped with a new generation of sensors, JIM SHARPHAWK achieved a +30% improvement in Detection, Recognition and Identification (DRI) performance in both day and low light modes. The binocular also provided increased connectivity for enhanced situational awareness, while retaining a lightweight format of under 2 kg and full compatibility with the JIM Compact ecosystem.

Safran highlighted that new hardware integration and software upgrades paved the way for future capabilities including resilience in GNSS-denied environments, strengthened cybersecurity and AI-powered processing. The system was designed to ensure nations maintained technological sovereignty and operational independence.
