In addition to the Archers, Sweden will provide five Arthur counter-battery radar systems, which detect enemy artillery fire and help improve battlefield effectiveness. The total value of the artillery package is SEK 3 billion, making it part of Sweden’s 18th military aid package to Ukraine.
Sweden will also contribute to Ukraine’s defence industry through a Danish-led initiative, which could help fund 155mm artillery ammunition or Bohdana artillery systems. This move aligns with Sweden’s broader strategy of strengthening European defence production and ensuring long-term support for Ukraine.
To enhance coordination, Sweden intends to join the artillery coalition within the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (UDCG). The coalition aims to improve Ukraine’s artillery interoperability with NATO and increase the efficiency of international military assistance.
The Arthur radar systems are scheduled for delivery in 2025, while the Archer artillery units will arrive in 2026. Sweden, along with its EU and transatlantic partners, remains committed to supporting Ukraine’s military resilience in the face of ongoing conflict.
