The German Navy has successfully concluded a two-week intensive trial of the BlueWhale Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) in the Baltic Sea as part of its Operational Experimentation (OPEX) programme. Developed by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) in collaboration with Germany’s ATLAS Elektronik, the BlueWhale was evaluated under challenging maritime conditions to meet specifications outlined by the Bundeswehr Technical Center for Ships and Naval Weapons (WTD 71).

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), and Atlas Elektronik (a subsidiary of thyssenkrupp Marine Systems), have announced that following the successful participation of IAI BlueWhale autonomous submarine system (ASW), together with Atlas Elekstronik`s towed passive sonar at the 7th annual REPMUS (Robotic Experimentation and Prototyping using Maritime Unmanned Systems) military exercise.
