In 2022, the Finnish Ministry of Defence witnessed a remarkable 70% increase in defence exports. A total of 342 licences were granted, including 269 licences for permanent exports and transfers of defence materiel to 47 countries. Additionally, 63 licences were issued for introductory, warranty, and service exports. The cumulative value of the permanent export and transfer licences reached EUR 119 million, the Finnish Ministry of Defence said in a press release.

The Finnish Defence Forces purchase Patria 6x6 armoured vehicles as a part of the multinational Finland-led CAVS (Common Armoured Vehicle Systems) programme that also features Latvia, Sweden, and Germany. Patria signed the agreement for 91 vehicles with the Finnish Defence Forces Logistics Command. In addition to the vehicles, the purchase also includes spare parts, tools as well as operation and maintenance training, in addition to a purchase option for 70 vehicles. Deliveries of the vehicles will begin during 2023.

The Finnish Defence Forces Logistics Command has placed significant orders with Senop Oy for the purchase of image intensifiers, laser sights and next-generation Senop LILLY target acquisition devices, and also for a lifecycle upgrade of the Senop LISA target acquisition devices. The total value of the procurements (excluding VAT) is about EUR 30 million, and they will have a significant employment impact in Finland.
