NSPA: 10th Night Vision Surveillance Equipment Conference in Finland

The NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) organised the 10th Night Vision Surveillance Equipment (NVSE) Conference on 13-15 February, in Rovaniemi, Finland. The event, hosted by the Finnish Defense Forces, brought together military experts, NSPA specialists and NVSE manufacturers from NATO countries.

 

The NVSE Conference brought together fifty national delegates representing 16 NATO nations and associated states, NATO specialists and 14 key industry players who discussed latest Night Vision and Optoelectronics (NVO) technologies and solutions.

This conference offered event attendees the opportunity to exchange operational, technical and logistics information for the acquisition and in-service support of latest generation NVO, with a focus on sniper clip-on devices and augmented reality. Other topics explored included thermal sights with auxiliary sniper equipment such as spotter scope, weather station, and ballistic calculator.

NSPA representatives briefed participants on the support provided to Nations through the (NVO) Support Partnership, as well as on opportunities and trends in the domain, taking into account NSPA’s procurement best practices. During the same conference, Finland presented their Logistical Support capabilities.

The two-day event combined briefings and presentations as well as exhibitions and live demonstrations from companies at the Rovajärvi training area near the Arctic Circle. Industry representatives explained and encouraged participants to test their sniper solutions mounted on rifles in northern weather conditions.
