The First Steel Cutting ceremony for the third U212 Near Future Submarine (NFS) took place at Fincantieri’s Muggiano shipyard. The ceremony was attended by Vice Admiral Abbamonte, Italian Director for Naval Armament, Programme Board and Programme Committee Representative, OCCAR Director Mr. Joachim Sucker, and Dr. Dario Deste, General Manager Naval Vessels at Fincantieri, who were also in La Spezia to attend the 7th NFS Programme Committee (PC) meeting which took place on 26 June, 2024.

After eight years of cooperation with Saab, the Pomeranian company Base Group holds a strong position in the supply chain of the Swedish defence industry giant. The Polish company supplies Sweden with components used in the production of, among others, new generation A26 Blekinge-class submarines. “Cooperation with Saab means much more to us than a standard supplier-client relationship. From the very beginning, it has been based on partnership, mutual trust, and openness.
