Sensor specialist HENSOLDT is supplying an unspecified number of state-of-the-art optical vision systems for the Puma infantry fighting vehicle. The customers are the system houses KNDS and Rheinmetall, which produce the Puma infantry fighting vehicle and distribute it through the jointly founded PSM GmbH. The order value is in the double-digit million range. In addition to the vision systems for the turrets of the infantry fighting vehicles, the order also includes the equipment for twelve turret trainers for training vehicle crews. With this delivery, HENSOLDT is helping to improve the Puma on the K-Stand S1.

AeroVironment’s PS2500 battery is now approved for use in the Puma 3 AE unmanned aircraft system (UAS). The optional PS2500 battery allows operators to achieve extended endurance of up to three hours of flight time. The increased endurance provides operators with greater mission flexibility and time on station across land and maritime operations.

The German Bundeswehr has contracted with Rheinmetall to produce and supply medium-calibre ammunition for the Puma infantry fighting vehicle. A call-off from an existing framework agreement, the order encompasses several hundred thousand rounds of 30mm x 173 DM21 service ammunition. The order is worth over EUR 350 million, including value added tax. Once perfect functionality has been demonstrated, delivery will begin this year and continue through to 2027.

Valued at over 129 million euros, this contract marks the largest order in recent years for the Bundeswehr's spare parts requirements.

The Bundeswehr is set to receive 53 new engines for its Puma armored infantry fighting vehicles, following a recent contract closure with Rolls-Royce Solutions GmbH.

Germany’s two top military vehicle makers, Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) and Rheinmetall, have been awarded an order to build a further fifty Puma infantry fighting vehicles. Including value added tax, the total value of the order comes to 1.087 billion euros. Of this amount, 574 million euros will go to KMW and 501 million euros to Rheinmetall Landsysteme GmbH, both of which are serving as subcontractors in the project.

Germany’s Federal Office for Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) has awarded Projekt System & Management GmbH (PSM), a joint venture of Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) and Rheinmetall, an order to retrofit a further 143 Puma infantry fighting vehicles. In doing so, the German government is exercising two options contained in the contract for retrofitting original Puma infantry fighting vehicles to the new S1 design status. This contract was signed in June 2021.
