Dynamit Nobel Defence secures long-term agreement for Puma reactive armour

By Defence Industry Europe

Dynamit Nobel Defence (DND) has signed a framework agreement with the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) to supply explosive reactive armour (ERA) modules for the Puma infantry fighting vehicle. The agreement, finalised on 19 December 2024, includes an initial order valued in the mid-double-digit million Euro range for operational stockpiling.

The framework agreement ensures the Bundeswehr can procure ERA modules swiftly and flexibly to maintain the readiness of the Puma fleet during crises or operational deployments. This strategic move aligns with Germany’s commitment to strengthening its military capabilities amid evolving security challenges.

DND emphasised the Bundeswehr’s confidence in ERA technology, which integrates passive, reactive, and active protection measures for land platforms. The agreement not only highlights the importance of ERA as a future-proof solution but also provides long-term stability for the industry to scale production capacity effectively.
