The U.S. Space Force has operationally accepted an upgraded Ground-Based Optical Sensor System at the Maui Space Surveillance Complex in Hawaii, significantly enhancing its ability to monitor objects in Earth’s orbit. The upgrade, developed with L3Harris Technologies, improves detection speed, field of view and sensitivity across multiple orbital regimes.
