Shield AI completes over 130 V-BAT sorties in Ukraine to support spring campaign

Shield AI has confirmed that its Kyiv-based operations team has completed more than 130 sorties using its V-BAT unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in Ukraine.

American defence technology company Shield AI has announced that its V-BAT unmanned aircraft system (UAS) has been chosen by the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) as the nation’s first maritime-based intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) platform. This marks a significant step in strengthening Japan’s defence capabilities and operational readiness in the strategically critical Indo-Pacific region.

American defence technology company Shield AI has commenced training with Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces (USF) to enhance their operational capabilities with the V-BAT, a vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) uncrewed aerial system (UAS). The V-BAT, designed for contested environments, has proven its effectiveness in electronic warfare scenarios, providing strategic capabilities on par with larger, more expensive platforms.
