Terma signs strategic support agreement for Argentina’s F-16 modernisation

By Defence Industry Europe

Danish defence company Terma has signed a support agreement with the Argentinian Ministry of Defense and the Argentinian Air Force to assist in the modernisation and operational readiness of 24 F-16 aircraft formerly operated by the Royal Danish Air Force. This agreement represents a major step in Argentina’s F-16 acquisition programme and confirms Terma’s position as a key supplier of advanced defence systems.

The agreement follows the sale of the aircraft in April 2024 by the Danish Ministry of Defense Acquisition and Logistics Organisation (DALO) to Argentina, carried out in coordination with the U.S. Government. As part of the programme, Terma will deliver essential upgrades and support services focused on Electronic Warfare (EW) systems, complementing refurbishment efforts led by Lockheed Martin Aeronautics.

Under the terms of the agreement, Terma will provide software and hardware enhancements, mission planning tools, ground support equipment, and engineering assistance tailored to the operational needs of the Fuerza Aérea Argentina (FAA). These contributions are considered critical to ensuring the aircraft’s full operational capability.

“This agreement reflects Terma’s core strength in delivering mission-critical systems and integrated solutions across platforms and domains,” said Henriette Hallberg Thygesen, CEO & President of Terma. “We combine deep technical expertise with decades of operational experience to support our partners in meeting complex defense requirements. We are impressed by Argentina’s forward-leaning approach and are proud to contribute to their evolving air capabilities.”
