Trump signs One Big Beautiful Bill Act with $150 billion to strengthen U.S. military power

President Donald Trump on Friday signed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, a sweeping legislative package that delivers major tax cuts and introduces phased reductions to Medicaid. The bill, passed after months of challenging negotiations with Republicans in Congress, marks a significant policy victory for the Trump administration.

The legislation includes a total of $150 billion in additional defence spending, with funding directed to key military priorities. Among the allocations are $29 billion for shipbuilding, $25 billion for a proposed “Golden Dome” missile defence system, and $25 billion for munitions.

Further provisions include $16 billion for military innovation and artificial intelligence, which will fund technologies such as kamikaze drones, drone boats, and underwater drones. Additionally, $15 billion has been earmarked for nuclear deterrence initiatives.

Another $150 billion has been designated for border security, immigration enforcement, and deportation efforts. This reflects the administration’s continued focus on tightening immigration controls and reinforcing the US-Mexico border.

President Trump signed the bill into law during a Fourth of July military family picnic held at the White House. “We made promises, and it’s really promises made, promises kept, and we’ve kept them,” Trump said from the South Lawn balcony.

“This is a triumph of democracy on the birthday of democracy,” the President added. “And I have to say, the people are happy.”
