“For the past three years, Baykar has been the world’s largest drone company, currently three times larger than its nearest American competitor,” Bayraktar stated. The company alone accounts for nearly 60% of the global UAV market, highlighting its significant role in the defence and aerospace sector.
Bayraktar TB2, one of Baykar’s flagship combat drones, has achieved international recognition for its operational success in conflicts including Ukraine’s defence against Russian forces, Azerbaijan’s military campaigns, and operations in North Africa. Described by Bayraktar as “the most-exported combat drone in the world,” the TB2 has cemented Baykar’s reputation as a leading exporter.
In 2023, Baykar generated 90% of its revenue from international markets, with exports climbing to $1.8 billion, up from $1.2 billion in 2022. The company also signed agreements with 34 countries for the Bayraktar TB2 and with 10 countries for its heavy Akıncı combat drones. Defence exports constituted nearly one-third of Türkiye’s record-breaking $5.5 billion sectoral sales last year, with Baykar leading the charge.
Baykar continues to innovate in drone technology, developing Türkiye’s first unmanned fighter jet, Kızılelma, which had its maiden flight in late 2022 and recently began mass production. The Bayraktar TB3 drone, tailored for use on short-runway warships like Türkiye’s first aircraft carrier, successfully completed its first take-off and landing on such a vessel last month.
“The Bayraktar TB3 has also started mass production,” Bayraktar announced. Notably, the TB3 is the first combat drone in the world with foldable wings, enhancing its versatility and adaptability. Baykar’s focus on cutting-edge technology demonstrates its forward-looking vision. “Baykar has prepared for the races of tomorrow, not yesterday’s or today’s,” Bayraktar remarked.
