Aeronautics secures major contract with NATO member for Orbiter 3 drones

By Defence Industry Europe

Israeli drone manufacturer Aeronautics has announced a significant new contract with a European NATO member to supply advanced Orbiter 3 unmanned aerial systems (UAS).

On August 12, Aeronautics Ltd. revealed that it had secured a substantial contract with a NATO member in Europe to provide their state-of-the-art Orbiter 3 UAS. This deal will enhance the country’s existing fleet, bringing advanced capabilities to its military operations.

The Orbiter 3 is a small tactical drone known for its superior performance in both defense and homeland security applications. It is recognized as one of the leading systems in its class globally, offering a range of advanced features that make it an essential tool for modern military forces.

One of the key highlights of the Orbiter 3 is its advanced Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition, and Reconnaissance (ISTAR) capabilities. The system is designed to operate independently of runways, has long endurance, and can carry a variety of payloads. Its advanced image processing technology and ability to navigate in environments where GPS is unavailable further enhance its versatility. Additionally, the Orbiter 3 is built to perform reliably in harsh weather conditions, making it suitable for a wide range of operational scenarios.

Another advantage of the Orbiter 3 is its low life-cycle cost compared to similar systems, thanks to its lightweight design and extended endurance. It has been proven reliable in combat, with thousands of flight hours backing its performance. The system’s compatibility with multiple platforms allows for the use of the same launching station and communication systems across different setups, making it easier for military forces to integrate and expand their capabilities.

Dan Slasky, CEO of Aeronautics, expressed his enthusiasm about the contract, stating, “This contract marks another important milestone with a long-standing customer.” He added, “The scalability of our system allows our partners to incrementally expand their capabilities over time, using the same proven infrastructure. This approach not only reduces costs but also streamlines operations for our customers.”
