This move comes in response to ongoing global developments and in line with the Army Transformation Initiative’s strategic aims. The Army will request that remaining fiscal year 2025 funds be reallocated to accelerate the deployment of other key warfighting capabilities.
Originally known as the Mobile Protected Firepower, the M10 Booker production contract was awarded to General Dynamics Land Systems in June 2022. The contract covered the manufacture and fielding of up to 96 vehicles under the low-rate initial production phase.
A U.S. Army spokesperson confirmed that, “The ongoing contract termination process will ultimately determine the disposition of the remaining assets.” The Army also highlighted that it anticipates “additional significant savings to be fully realized within the next 18–24 months.”
Despite halting the M10 Booker’s production, the Army expressed its gratitude to all those involved in the programme. It stated, “The Army appreciates the efforts of the team and Soldiers from the 82nd Airborne Division who worked on the program.”
