U.S. Navy begins testing latest Northrop Grumman MQ-4C Triton uncrewed aircraft

By Defence Industry Europe

Northrop Grumman newest MQ-4C Triton uncrewed multi-intelligence aircraft is now undergoing testing with the U.S. Navy’s Naval Air Systems Command. The testing phase includes calibration and other assessments before the aircraft is delivered to the Navy’s operational unit.

Triton is designed to provide unmatched maritime intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and targeting capabilities. Built in Palmdale, California, for both the U.S. Navy and the Royal Australian Air Force, the aircraft supports missions such as maritime patrol, signals intelligence, and search and rescue.

Northrop Grumman has produced 20 Triton aircraft for the U.S. Navy to date. These systems enable persistent surveillance and help anticipate adversary actions, improving operational planning and supporting joint military efforts.

“With nearly 100,000 employees and over 30 million square feet of manufacturing space – more than 500 football fields – Northrop Grumman has the capacity, scale, and agility to drive innovation at unprecedented speeds,” the company stated. The firm’s manufacturing strategy is designed not only for precision but also to speed up the entire process from design through to testing.

Northrop Grumman continues to invest in infrastructure, research and development, workforce, and supply chains across the United States. These efforts support current and future national security requirements through advanced defence technologies.
