U.S. Space Force has awarded L3Harris Technologies a $150 million contract to sustain and modernize critical ground systems supporting space surveillance. The work is part of the Maintenance of Space Situational Awareness Integrated Capabilities (MOSSAIC) program.

The contract aims to enhance decision-making, improve early threat warning and support sustained space superiority. Officials said the upgraded systems will provide faster and more accurate information to operators.

The MOSSAIC program is now in its seventh year of a ten-year effort. It is designed to deliver reliable, high-availability surveillance data to military, civil and commercial users.

The program supports commanders with timely and accurate insight into space activities. This capability is intended to help protect critical space assets and maintain operational freedom in orbit.

Jeff Hanke, President of Space Systems at L3Harris, said the award reflects continued confidence in the company’s capabilities. “MOSSAIC underscores the confidence Space Force places in our ability to deliver advanced capabilities that strengthen space domain awareness,” he said.

Hanke said the company will build on its experience in ground systems and innovation. “We are leveraging decades of ground systems experience and rapid innovation to give warfighters earlier threat detection, faster response and the assurance needed to prevail in a contested domain,” he added.

L3Harris has supported space domain awareness missions for more than 30 years. The company provides technologies, research and services aimed at supporting national defence and security.

Officials said the contract reinforces efforts to improve monitoring and protection of space-based infrastructure. The initiative reflects growing emphasis on space as a contested operational domain.
