The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has made significant strides in equipping its Armed Forces with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Over the first 11 months of 2024, more than 1.2 million drones of various types have been delivered to enhance military capabilities.

This extensive deployment includes over 40,000 reconnaissance multirotor drones, 12,000 of which are equipped for night operations. In addition, 5,000 fixed-wing reconnaissance UAVs, such as the Shark, Hor, and Furia models, have been supplied to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

On the offensive front, more than 6,000 deep-strike combat drones, including the AN-196 “Lutiy” and Firepoint models, have been provided. The Ministry has also delivered over 2,000 reusable attack UAVs like the Nemesis, Kazhan, and Vampir, alongside more than 5,000 reusable FPV quadcopters.

A significant contribution comes from the FPV kamikaze drones, with 1.1 million units delivered by the State Service for Special Communications under Ministry orders. These drones are tailored to meet the specific operational requirements of combat units.

Looking ahead, the Ministry of Defence plans to deliver an additional 100,000 UAVs by the end of 2024. “Ensuring the Armed Forces are equipped with modern UAVs remains a priority, strengthening the nation’s defence capabilities and enhancing combat effectiveness,” stated the Ministry.
