Ukroboronprom delivers 122mm artillery ammunition to armed forces

The Ukrainian state-owned defence company Ukroboronprom has delivered to the Armed Forces of Ukraine the first batch of newly produced 122mm artillery shells. Ammunition was produced by the company in a facility established outside Ukraine in cooperation with one of the NATO countries.

According to Ukroboronprom, the production of 122mm artillery ammunition is carried out by Ukrainian personnel and using Ukrainian technology. However, the ammunition is manufactured in a facility located in an unspecified NATO member country.



Production started a few months ago and recently Armed Forces of Ukraine received a first batch of an undisclosed amount of 122mm artillery ammunition.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine currently operates several types of artillery systems using 122mm ammunition, for example, the D-30 towed howitzer and 2S1 Gvozdika self-propelled howitzer.



As Defence Industry Europe reported, Ukroboronprom recently also launched the production of 125mm tank ammunition used by T-64, T-72, and T-80 main battle tanks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The production of this ammunition is also carried out outside Ukraine, in one of the NATO countries.
