Finland to procure more Bonus Mk II projectiles from Nexter

Finland’s Ministry of Defence has authorised the Defence Forces to procure more 155mm Bonus MK II special munitions for anti-tank weapons of the artillery.

The ammunition will be supplied by Nexter Munitions.


The overall value of the procurement without value-added tax is about EUR 35 million, Finlands’s Ministry of Defence said.

Bonus Mk II is a fire-and-forget mmunition designed to defeat various types of stationary or mobile armored vehicles. The aim is to neutralize or destroy armored vehicles by combining several firings rounds in many-to-many or many-to-one scenarios.

Its two top-attack smart warheads destroy all main battle tanks and moving targets of the modern battlefield.

As a fully interoperable shell, Bonus MkII can be fired by all current and future artillery systems compliant with the JB MoU standard, including 52 caliber, as well as by other systems with their respective propellant charges.

In 2014 Finland’s Ministry of Defence authorized the Defence Forces to acquire 155mm Bonus MkII munitions that search for armored vehicles. The first Bonus rounds were fired by the Finnish Army on November 2016.
