Electro Optic Systems Holdings Limited (EOS) announced it is part of the Leidos Australia team awarded the Systems Integration Partner contract for the Australian Defence Force’s (ADF) Project LAND 156 Counter-small Uncrewed Aerial Systems. The announcement follows Minister for Defence Industry the Hon Pat Conroy MP’s statement on 19 August 2025 that the ADF will allocate $1.3bn over the next decade to acquire counter-drone capabilities.

Project LAND 156 is expected to deliver a comprehensive counter-drone capability for the ADF, evolving over several years. This will include the acquisition of a command-and-control system, sensors and effectors.

The initial award to Leidos Australia is anticipated to generate small-batch evaluation orders of EOS products, including the Slinger counter-drone remote weapon system. After an evaluation and design phase, the award could lead to further orders of EOS counter-drone products, with potential revenue benefits from 2026 onwards.

EOS stated that it is continuing to expand as a global leader in counter-drone technologies. “EOS manufactures the world-leading Slinger counter-drone remote weapon system at its advanced manufacturing facility in Canberra, Australia,” the company said.

The company emphasised the significance of the domestic industry contribution. “This is supported by an extended supply chain of over 100 manufacturing businesses across Australia. EOS welcomes this opportunity and the investment it represents in the Australian defence manufacturing industry,” EOS said.
