The GÖKSUR Vertical Launch System (VLS) is a key component of Türkiye’s layered air defence strategy, known as the Steel Dome. It is designed to protect naval assets from a range of aerial threats, including anti-ship and cruise missiles, drones, fighter jets, and helicopters.
Developed by ASELSAN in collaboration with TÜBİTAK SAGE, GÖKSUR features the high-performance GÖKSUR IIR missile with bi-directional data link communication. The system’s modular design allows for seamless adaptation to various naval platforms, including frigates and corvettes.
GÖKSUR gained significant attention at the EURONAVAL 2024 exhibition in Paris, where its advanced features were showcased. The system includes multiple configurations, such as the GÖKSUR 100-N VLS, the stand-alone turret variant (GÖKSUR 100-N/StA), and a new 20-missile configuration equipped with the GÖKSUR IIR missile.
Key capabilities of GÖKSUR include 360-degree threat engagement, next-generation infrared seeker-guided munitions, and high effectiveness against low-flying targets. It also supports multiple simultaneous engagements and integrates an AI-driven fire control system for enhanced operational efficiency.
The system’s modular structure enables integration with a variety of naval platforms, either as an independent unit or as part of a vessel’s combat management system. Its data link technology allows for real-time uplink and downlink guidance, strengthening Türkiye’s naval defence capabilities.
