By Defence Industry Europe

Finnish technology company Bittium has received a purchase order worth approximately EUR 1.8 million to deliver tactical communications equipment to the Croatian Navy and Land Forces. The order forms part of a four-year framework agreement between IntellByte INFO, Bittium’s Croatian partner, and the Croatian Ministry of Defence.

The agreement covers the supply and integration of tactical communications systems across various branches of the Croatian Armed Forces. The procurement aims to support the modernisation of the command-and-control infrastructure used by deployed military units.

Bittium’s Tactical Wireless IP Network (TAC WIN) system and Bittium Tough SDR Vehicular radios will be deployed to enhance real-time situational awareness and enable seamless interoperability between forces. The TAC WIN system provides a modular and survivable backbone network, while the Tough SDR Vehicular radios ensure reliable communications between naval vessels and land-based units.

“These products will improve the mobility and cooperation of different branches of the Croatian Armed Forces by providing real-time situational awareness and seamless interoperability,” said Jari Sankala, Senior Vice President of Bittium’s Defence & Security business segment. He added, “Our innovative and reliable solutions support the modernisation of tactical communications and enhance the operational capability of the Croatian Armed Forces.”

The delivery also includes Bittium’s advanced software-defined radio waveforms tailored for various military communication needs. These include the Bittium TAC WIN Waveform, the ESSOR High Data Rate Waveform compliant with NATO standards, and the Bittium Narrowband Waveform™, which supports long-range voice and message transmission across command networks.
