CAE has signed a worldwide cooperation agreement making it Saab's preferred supplier for selected training and simulation needs for the GlobalEye Airborne Early Warning and Control aircraft. The agreement also includes a Canada-specific partnership to jointly pursue the country's AEW&C programme.

Matt Bromberg, President and CEO of CAE, said the deal creates a foundation for Canadian-anchored AEW&C training. He stated: “The agreement between Saab and CAE sets the stage for global AEW&C training franchise anchored in Canada.”

Bromberg said CAE’s role reflects its longstanding work with Saab and its relevance to current geopolitical demands. He added: “As Canada’s trusted defence partner, CAE’s advanced training and simulation expertise is vital to the mission and operational readiness of defence forces in Canada and around the world. Today’s announcement reflects years of trust and joint success with Saab and responds to an evolving geopolitical landscape that demands stronger, integrated partnerships.”

Saab President and CEO Micael Johansson said the agreement supports the long-term development of AEW capabilities. He said: “This partnership strengthens our commitment to GlobalEye customers and reinforces our strategy to deliver world-leading airborne early warning capabilities with best-in-class training.”

Johansson emphasised CAE’s role in supporting GlobalEye users worldwide. He added: “CAE is a trusted partner with unmatched expertise of training solutions, and together we will increase the operational readiness for Airborne Early Warning platform users around the world.”

Under the global agreement, CAE will provide simulation-based training to support Saab’s international GlobalEye campaigns and other AEW&C programmes. The collaboration will draw on CAE’s integrated training systems, including flight training devices, mission platforms and digital training environments designed to replicate operational complexity.

CAE will also use its global network of training centres to deliver pilot and maintenance training for AEW&C platforms. Saab said the partnership ensures training evolves alongside platform developments to meet changing operational needs.

A separate cooperation agreement focuses on Canada’s AEW&C requirements. The companies said it combines Saab’s airborne surveillance experience with CAE’s training capability to offer a tailored national solution with potential economic benefits.

The Canadian partnership could generate high-value jobs, new intellectual property and broader growth in the defence sector. Both companies said the initiative supports innovation in surveillance technologies and strengthens Canada’s industrial base.

The agreement brings together two leading defence firms as GlobalEye expands its role in international surveillance and control missions. Saab’s platform integrates active and passive sensors for multi-domain awareness, while CAE’s training systems aim to maintain operational readiness as capabilities advance.

The announcement comes as Canada and Sweden continue strengthening ties as northern nations and NATO allies. Both countries cooperate through the Arctic Council and share growing trade supported by agreements such as CETA.
