Cohort’s German subsidiary ELAC has secured a €140.7 million contract from Saab to supply integrated sonar systems for Poland’s Orka submarine programme. Work will begin immediately, with deliveries scheduled to continue into the mid-2030s.

The contract covers active and passive sonar systems for the Polish Navy’s future submarines. Cohort said Saab’s A26 submarine has been selected for the Orka programme.

“This important order confirms ELAC SONAR’s position as a world-leading provider of advanced digital sonar systems for submarines,” said Andy Thomis, Cohort Chief Executive. The award gives ELAC a long-term role in one of Poland’s major naval modernisation programmes.

“We are pleased to have established this important collaboration with Saab whose A26 submarine has been selected by the Polish Navy,” Thomis said. “We will work together closely to ensure that these advanced vessels are provided with cutting-edge active and passive sonar systems, creating a world-class underwater capability that will make a major contribution to security in the Baltic Sea region.”

ELAC operates within Cohort’s Sensors and Effectors division and specialises in naval hydroacoustic systems. The €140.7 million order extends its work on the Polish programme well into the next decade.

Cohort said the contract, combined with other recent wins across the group, is expected to increase adjusted earnings per share in the following financial year and beyond. The company did not provide additional financial details for the programme.

“ELAC celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2026, and this order demonstrates its continued status as a leading provider of naval hydroacoustic systems for use in the Baltic Sea and worldwide,” Thomis said. The contract adds a substantial multi-year submarine sonar programme to Cohort’s order base.
