Diehl Aviation to open new manufacturing facility in Romania to support global growth

By Defence Industry Europe

Diehl Aviation has announced the establishment of a new production facility in Romania, marking a key step in expanding its global manufacturing footprint. The new site will focus on producing components for passenger aircraft, aimed at meeting growing industry demand and ensuring delivery reliability.

Romania was chosen for its strategic location between Eastern and Western Europe, offering direct access to suppliers and a highly skilled workforce. As a member of the European Union, the country also provides political stability, economic integration, and a business-friendly environment.

This move will not only increase Diehl Aviation’s production capacity but also help streamline its cost structure, making its offerings more competitive in the global market. By diversifying its manufacturing base, the company aims to boost supply chain resilience and operational flexibility.

Despite the expansion abroad, Diehl Aviation confirmed that core activities such as product development, industrialisation, and innovation will remain based at its German sites. This approach will preserve the company’s commitment to technological leadership and product excellence.

“Our new facility in Romania is a strategic investment in the future of Diehl Aviation,” said Jörg Schuler, CEO of Diehl Aviation. “As aircraft production rates increase, we are committed to providing our customers with the highest-quality products at competitive costs. Romania’s strong talent pool, modern infrastructure, and business-friendly environment make it the perfect setting for this expansion.”

Construction of the Romanian facility is expected to begin in 2025, reflecting the company’s long-term vision for growth and enhanced manufacturing capabilities. This development underscores Diehl Aviation’s continued support of the global aviation sector through innovative and efficient production solutions.
