The workshop focused on consolidating specific customer requirements for the development of a hypersonic air defence system. The European HYDEF consortium aims to ensure that the system’s conceptual design addresses all national requirements, enabling it to efficiently counter both current and future aerial threats.
Highlights of the workshop included productive discussions, a factory tour showcasing the IRIS-T system, and a collective agreement on the importance of continuous alignment between stakeholders and the HYDEF Consortium. The next workshop is scheduled for June 2024, emphasizing the ongoing commitment to collaborative success.
The HYDEF programme seeks to investigate and define a European interceptor concept, incorporating cutting-edge technologies in propulsion, aerodynamics, guidance systems, sensors, and more, to neutralize emerging threats over the coming decades. This initiative aligns with the EDF 2021 Project (EU HYDEF), managed by OCCAR-EA with support from the European Commission, marking a significant step in strengthening European defence collaboration.
